

Norris Eugene Gompf, 87, of Tucson, AZ, died on November 20, 2024. He was born on February 9, 1937 in Marion, OH to Clarence and Avril Gompf. His family moved to Arizona in 1946 when he was 9 years old. Norris graduated from Amphitheater High School in 1955. He served in the Navy from 1955 to 1958. At this time his life was dramatically changed when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was called into the ministry. He enrolled at Bible Institute of Los Angeles (BIOLA) where he met and married his wife Glenda and had three children. Norris went on to earn a Master of Divinity Degree from Talbot Theological Seminary.
Norris served as pastor of the First Christian Church in Holtville, CA from 1969 to 1976. He moved his family to Costa Mesa, CA to become the pastor of the Central Bible Church from 1976 to 1977. Due to health issues he moved his family to Tucson where he worked various jobs but primarily for Cienega Construction Company as the customer service manager.
Norris' two favorite pastimes were fishing and traveling. In the U.S. he and Glenda visited the capital city of all fifty states, they also traveled throughout Europe. Norris and Glenda spent every summer in the White Mountains of Arizona and taught all their children and grandchildren how to fish. Seven years ago Norris fulfilled a life long dream of owning a summer home in Springerville, AZ.
Norris is survived by his wife Glenda Katherine Gompf and his three daughters, Michelle Holley, Valerie Holley and Teresa Baggin. He has seven grandsons and four great grandchildren. He was an amazing person who lived an extraordinary life, influenced many lives profoundly and was a faithful minister of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was greatly loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed.
Norris Gompf was laid to rest at East Lawn Palms Mortuary & Cemetery on Friday, November 29, 2024.
