

Paula LaJuan Patterson passed away on July 12, 2026, at age 83 in Tucson. Paula was born in Casa Grande, Arizona in 1943 to Melton and Viola Poindexter. She was the youngest of three children, her sister, Oda Lee Roberts and her brother Clarence Poindexter are both laid to rest along with her parents in Casa Grande.
Paula met her husband George Patterson in high school, and they were married in 1962. They shared nearly 64 full and happy years together. Paula is survived by her husband George, daughter Carrie Rowley and son-in-law Trent Rowley, along with many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews to the third generation.
Paula loved to read and passed on her love of reading to her daughter and all of her nieces and nephews. Paula and George were avid birdwatchers, and they loved the Sonoran Desert and the surrounding mountains. They spent many years exploring the wilderness and enjoying family picnics. Paula dedicated her life to caring for her entire family and she loved to entertain and cook or bake. Paula was the epitome of kindness, whether it was baking cookies for people or sending birthday cards and “books” to her great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews, she just loved to spread joy.
Paula left a legacy of love, and she will be dearly missed. In lieu of a funeral service, her family asks that those who new Paula will remember her in their own special way and honor her by passing on love, joy and kindness to those they meet along their path of life.
