

Rebecca was born on April 28, 1946, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Wilton and Joyce Morkel and was the oldest of 3 sisters. She grew up in Mansfield where she met and married the love of her life, Vaughn Thompson, with whom she shared nearly 60 wonderful years of marriage.
In 1979, Rebecca and Vaughn moved to Tucson, where she became a talented needlepoint artist. After retiring, In 2019, she moved to Florence, Arizona, where she enjoyed attending Zumba classes and water aerobics and outings with her many friends.
Rebecca treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Known for her exuberant personality, kind heart, and infectious laugh, she brought joy to everyone who knew her and will be dearly missed.
Her family asks that she be remembered not for the sadness of her passing, but for the happiness and positivity and love she shared throughout her life.
Rebecca is survived by her devoted husband, Vaughn Thompson; her children, Joy (Shane) and Aaron; her grandchildren, Joey (Gen), Kylee, Nathan, and Aubrey; and her great-grandchildren, Gia and Ren. Her two sisters Gayla and Connie (Dan), nieces Amy and Alissa(Andy) and her many cousins.
Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, located at 5801 E. Grant Road, Tucson, Arizona, on June 1, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., with a remembrance service to follow.
