Reyes was born on September 15, 1946 in Agua Prieta, Sonora. He grew up in Tucson and was part of Pueblo High School's class of 1965. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Norma Jaquez Arvayo and his five children: Susan Cabrera (Tony), David Arvayo (Reyna), Eric Arvayo (Lourdes), Mark Arvayo (Natasha) and Adrian Arvayo (Melissa) and nine beautiful grandchildren whom he adored. Reyes served in the U.S. Army from December 28, 1970 through December 18, 1972 and was honorably discharged as an Army Sergeant.
Reyes was self-made, he constructed his first house at the age of seventeen. He attended Pima College and worked for the City of Tucson for 25 years. He began his career with the City as a Construction Engineer and retired as a Plan Examiner. Reyes went into business for himself as a General Contractor and Plan Draftsman up to the day he passed. He carved out his own piece of heaven here on Earth, leaving a lasting mark on many lives. He had businesses, bought properties and classic cars. He never did it for money or expansion. Reyes bought homes and cars to help his family and friends. Their security and happiness was his passion.
But the most important thing we all knew about him was that he lived his life for his family. Reyes enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling with his children and grandchildren. Reyes was a good friend to many, always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed sharing his construction/drafting skills and mentoring those coming into the field.
His greatest joy was watching his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews play competitive sports and musical recitals. He was the proudest "Tata" when watching Belina and Ilaria play their violins and dance Folklorico.
Reyes kept up with current events, politics and sports. He especially liked all Arizona Wildcats sports, so much so that he had occasional shouting matches with his TV.
We are all going to miss him very much! Reyes was the leader of our family. But even though he is no longer here with us on earth, his spirit lives on in each of us. His memory remains, and his stamp on each of our lives will last forever. He taught us all so much: what it means to live a good life, to know God, to be a wonderful husband, great father, nino, cousin, friend... we will live our lives in his honor and raise our children and families by his example. We will cherish the memories we had together for the rest of our lives.
We love you!
