His earthly race is over and the curtains around him fall. He left bound for glory land on the gospel fireball.
He is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Esther Allison and younger brother David Allison. He is survived by his loving wife Connie of 60 years, his two sons Michael and William Allison, brother Steven Allison, stepson Francisco, stepdaughter Lupe, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He claimed Bakersfield, California as his hometown and El Paso, Texas as his “stomping grounds.” In Bakersfield he was a founding member of the Bakersfield Country Music Association where some of the notable alumni included Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and many others. He played guitar, sang and was an award-winning country music deejay on KCHJ Country 1010 where he also hosted the “Saturday Morning Barn Dance” show with Fred Maddox of the Maddox Brother’s & Rose fame.
He wore many hats over the years and was also a Station Agent with Greyhound Lines for 20 years, drove armored trucks for Loomis (El Paso) and Brinks (Bakersfield) and was a Correctional Officer for 7 years.
He arrived in Tucson with his wife in June 2006 and because of his passion of old west history and culture he became a tour guide at “Old Tucson Studios” for 10 years and often sang in the cowboy church there. He finished his deejay career with Radio Station KPYT 100.3FM on the Pascua Yaqui reservation where he hosted his popular “Country Music Jubilee” show.
He loved dogs and horses and was extremely attached to his little Cockapoo “Pepe” whom he often referred to as “my little pal.”
