Richard attended the University of Arizona and served in the Army Reserves. He was a well-loved and respected high school teacher of US Government and History, leaving a lasting impact on his students for over more than 30 years. He taught at Cholla High School, Sabino High School and Canyon Del Oro High School. A runner himself, Richard's passion for athletics led him to coach track and cross country, instilling his love for sports in the younger generation. After retirement he and his wife Karen ran two businesses in Tucson, of which he was very proud.
Outside of work, Richard could invariably be found discussing politics, on a run or carrying a book - sometimes all three. He loved life, his family and his work with a passion. He was deeply caring about the people around him and was always ready to help - he did so with a warm smile and a joyful laugh.
Richard is survived by his wife Karen, daughters Jessica Fisher and Melissa Browning, and stepchildren Ben Howayeck and Michelle Hastings-Molyneux, eight cherished grandchildren, and siblings William C. Browning, and Roberta Sheraw.
A private memorial will be held for the family.
