

Born in Ann Arbor, MI, "Papa Dick", as he was affectionately known by 3 generations, had called Tucson his home for over 60 years.
Survived by his wife of 68 years Georgie, sons Steve and Mark (Tina), 4 granddaughters; Roxanne, Julie, Jessica and Stephany and 13 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Merle and Edna, son Ricky in 1961 and granddaughter Sarah in 2010.
Dick served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict, then followed his parents to Tucson where he met and married Georgie in 1956. They returned to Michigan where their sons were born. They returned to Tucson in 1962 where he lived until his passing.
Dick was a mechanic and tinkerer. Both things he learned from his dad. He opened Dick's Texaco in 1964, Lohman's Automotive in 1971, S&D Auto Supply in 1980 and started his trucking company, S&D Enterprises the same year. Dick had a very strong entrepreneurial spirit that served him and his family well.
Dick retired in 1999. But, he kept busy for many years, developing an interest in building and repairing computers, and digital photography. Being a racer in his early years, he developed a passion for NASCAR in his later years.
A visitation will be held on March 3, 2025 at 1:00 PM at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712; followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM and a graveside service at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations to TMC's Peppi's House and St Jude's Hospital in his name.
