Roy Bruce Ziemann was born in Madison Wisconsin June 16, 1953 and went to heaven July 10, 2023. During his early years Roy had to contend with his 6 siblings and a traveling father and a mother who ran a boarding house for college students. Roy graduated from the Eastern Kentucky University in the ROTC program and joined the Army as a second lieutenant. He stayed in the army for 5 years and was discharged as a captain.
He met his wife Caroline, in a church adult encounter group in Fayetteville NC. They were married in 1980 in a chapel quaintly named "South of the Border" because it was just across the state line in NC. After leaving the army, Roy found his career in Software Engineering. His family joked that he never changed jobs, he just got purchased by other companies. During this time, Roy and his wife Caroline got custody of two of her grandchildren and raised them as their own.
Because of work, Roy moved the family Carolyn, Taylor, her daughter, and Amanda and Rhonda, her granddaughters, from California to Tucson. Roy would return to earn his Masters Degree at the University of Phoenix. He continued to climb in his career at Raytheon until retiring with the job title of Senior Manager.
Roy was always a little mischievous, with joy and fun at the center. He made trenches in the backyard that this dad's car got stuck in. He sang silly songs to his grandchildren and danced with them before church on Sunday. Roy was a man of God and taught his family to walk the same path. He was the protector of his family and walked with his faith in the Lord to care for them.
After retiring, the plan was to travel with his wife, which they did until she got sick and passed.. Roy will be happy now that he is with both the Lord and his other half, Caroline.
Roy is survived by five sisters, two daughters, seven grandchildren, and lots of great grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
