Ruth Joyce Puckett

Join us to celebrate the life of our dear friend, Ruth Joyce Puckett, on January 16th. Funeral arrangements will be held at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, Arizona. Service: 2:00 P.M. | Burial: 3:00 P.M.

Ruth was born on January 6, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan, Ruth passed away on December 21, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona, from vascular disease.

Ruth was the last surviving member of a large and loving family, father Harold Blackmore; mother, Frances Blackmore; brothers, Floyd, David, and Kenny; and her little sister, Louise. At 91 years of age, Ruth looked forward to reuniting with her beloved family and her sweetheart and longtime companion, Norbert Ledsworth.

Ruth married on June 4, 1953, and later divorced on September 30, 1992.

As the eldest of her siblings, Ruth left school at the age of 12 after her father passed away to help her mother work on the farm and care for her younger brothers and sister. She held many jobs throughout her life, ranging from farming to changing tires at gas stations in her early years. Later, she worked as a waitress, in retail, and in customer service. However, her favorite job was at the International Wildlife Museum, a natural history museum, where she greeted visitors from across the country. Ruth loved being surrounded by animals from all over the world without having to feed or clean up after them.

Ruthie had a passion for baking and cooking for her friends and coworkers, and her happy, fun personality will always be remembered.
