Sally Marie Padilla

04/05/1930 - 01/12-2024

Born "Celia Maria Flores" but later changed her name to Sally Marie Flores.

Born to parents Maria Salazar Flores

and Jose Merced Flores in Ventura California. She had 3 sisters Betty, Angie, Rachel and 3 brothers Joe, Edward and Ray.

She had 8 children; Sallyann, Annie, Ralph, Richard, Tony, Bob, David and Jr. Mom had 20 Grandchildren 52 great Grandchildren and 27 great great Grandchildren.

Mom was born in a Caboose while her family was working in the fields in California. Her sister Betty and brother Joe were also born in the caboose. The Aunts and my Mom took the grandkids a few times to literally go pick peaches in the field. This was to teach us kids the value of the very hard work they used to do.

Her family owned a couple restaurants in California. Her brother Edward also operated the Flores Cafe here in Tucson, Arizona.

Mom also owned her own little cafe, "Celia's Cocina" which she had in Ventura California.

Mom worked for 30 years with the Amphi school district at Rillito Ranch a school for disability kids.

She was involved with the Head Start program, the Food and Clothing Banks. She was also involved in the Cursillo movement.

Mom loved visiting family, traveling, cooking and her gardening. She had a excellent green thumb and was a VERY good cook.

1st married to Angel Sierra and later married Carlos Flores.

After being married to her late husband, Ray Padilla a painter from Oxdard California she moved back to Tucson for the last 30 years or so where she passed away peacefully at home with her family.

We will all miss her very much and look forward to one day being together again.

A visitation for Sally will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel South Lawn, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706. A prayer service will occur Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 601 E Fort Lowell Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705 and will be followed by burial at 12:00pm at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706. A reception in the San Jose Ballroom at La Posada Lodge & Casitas Hotel, 5900 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85704 will be held from 1:00pm to 6:00pm following the burial.
