Sammy L. Merriott, born March 10, 1942, to Riley and Viola Merriott passed on February 19, 2023, in Tucson Arizona. He was born in Hot Springs Arkansas and grew up in Farmersville California. In 1960, Sam joined the United States Air Force and became a transportation specialist. In 1966 he settled down in Tucson Arizona where he would spend the next 57 years. During that time, he was a carpenter who built many houses and commercial buildings throughout the area.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Bonnie Phillips-Merriott. Siblings: Lavon Smith and Diane Grimsley Children: Mark, Paul, Mary, Meda, Vera, Micah, as well as grandchildren Brittany Bryanne, Deidra, Brittany Rae, Kailey, Steven, Benjamin, Braiden, and Malachi. Plus, countless others knew him as brother, uncle, or dad.
A graveside service for Sammy will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 East Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712.
