Fiercely loving Mom, adoring Nana, caring sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Each word means something different, but the love behind every one of them was the same for Sara Silva. Sara was called Home on October 10, 2026, at the age of 71.
Sara was born in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, and came to Tucson, Arizona, at a young age, working as a nanny to support her family in Mexico. As she settled in Tucson, she worked various jobs to support herself and her four children. When her youngest were three years old, they joined Head Start, where she met people who encouraged her to seek more for herself.
Sara earned her GED and went on to accomplish her dream: she became a teacher. For more than 20 years, she touched the lives of countless students with her stern encouragement and unwavering belief in them. She told them that if she could learn a second language and earn her degree, they could do it too.
Sara gave generously, and so often her gift was her cooking. Everyone she fed could taste the love she poured into it. She met life’s challenges with courage and grace, strengthened by her faith and by the family and friends who stood beside her. She was a beacon of hope for her children and a light to her five grandchildren, who adored her.
It is this beauty, grace, and strength that Sara leaves behind, and it will forever live in us.
Sara is survived by her four children, Krystal, Jesus, Marcela, and Alex, and her five grandchildren.
