Brock (Simmer), Sharon Sue passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday September 18, 2023. Sharon was born in Manitowoc, WI. on March 6, 1952, to LaVerne Mae Simmer (Osulson) and William John Simmer.
As a child in Manitowoc, WI., Sharon “walked up hill in the snow both ways,” to and from Lincoln High School. She’d later pursue higher education at the University of Arizona where she met the love of her life, and husband of 48 years Raymond J. Brock. She and Raymond built a family together, inclusive of three sons, in Tucson, Arizona, where they resided since 1981.
Sharon supported her children and community as an active member of local Parent Teacher Associations (PTA’s) and as a board member for Sahuaro Little League/Palo Verde Park. She was known for running all around the park assuring operations were running smoothly, snack bars were stocked, and players and fans had smiles from ear-to-ear.
In 1995, her life took an unexpected turn when she suffered a stroke, which left her with complete left-side paralysis and right side blindness. Doctors would say it was the worst stroke they’d ever seen someone survive. It was no surprise to Sharon’s loved ones. Those that knew her would say Sharon was resilient, determined, and demonstrated strength through her character. She’d spend the next 29 years fighting to live life on her terms and not as her physical condition would dictate.
Sharon found great joy in life's simple pleasures. She had a passion for romance audiobooks and took immense delight in attending her grandchildren's events, chatting it up with the girls from college, traveling, and dining out. Going out with her meant always maintaining regard for her “desert bubble”- to which was most often filled with blueberry mini chimis.
Sharon will be remembered with love and fondness by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Brock, her brother David Simmer, her father William John Simmer, her stepmother Shirley Simmer, and her mother LaVerne Simmer (Osulson).
She is survived by her youngest son, William Marc Brock, and his wife, Monica Brock, and their children Lincoln Raymond Brock, Isabela Joy Geiselhart, and Renee Marie Geiselhart. Her middle son, Keith Michael Brock, and his wife, Jessica Brock, along with their children, Arthur Wellington Brock and Claybourne Thomas Brock. She is also survived by her oldest son, Eric Scott Brock, his girlfriend Katy Blohm, and their children Owen Erickson Brock, Olivia Rose Brock, and Scarlett Blohm.
A celebration of Sharon's life and a final farewell will take place at East Lawn Palms Cemetery on November 1, 2023, at 3:00 pm, where she will be laid to rest. Sharon's memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
