Sharon spent most of her working life as a bartender, a role that suited her steady work ethic and the easy warmth she brought to every day. If “The Bambi” was your local watering hole, you probably knew her. After moving to Sonoita/Elgin, she worked at the local Mini-Market, welcoming both locals and travelers passing through the area. With a quick wit and a kind heart, she had a way of making every customer smile, leaving people feeling seen, cared for, and a little lighter than when they arrived.
A devoted and beloved presence to those who knew her, Sharon carried generosity into the simple, everyday places where it matters most. She had a green thumb, and gardening was a true passion—one she happily shared, offering the “fruits” of her labor with the same open handed spirit that marked so much of her life.
Shanny’s love for animals was just as deep. Parakeets, chickens, dogs, and even a donkey all won her heart, and she gave that loyalty back in full. She also loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing with her family, meeting life with courage and curiosity and finding joy in time spent under open skies.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Gary W. Stockton Sr.; her daughters, Cherri Stockton and Christina Genier; her sons, Gary Stockton Jr. and Roy Stockton (Alexis); her sisters, Terral Byron and Elizabeth McKevett; her nephews, Casey Myers (Kimberly), Zachary Harding (Jessica), Carl Byron (Ashley), and Dominic Pesqueira; her nieces, Karena McKevett, Kristin Walters (Brad), and Sonia Pesqueira; her grandchildren, Alexis, Cameron, Ayla, and Illianna; and 7 grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles C. McKevett; her mother, Ardis J. (Driveness) McKevett; her sisters, Flavia L. McKevett and Marianne McKevett; her brothers, Charles A. McKevett and Cameron McKevett.
