Sidney Lee Spurgeon, 87, of Tucson, AZ passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022. If we had to describe Sid in a few words we would say, ‘Honorable Service’, his life was well lived serving his family, community and country. Born in San Francisco, the son of Clarence and Blanche Spurgeon, Sid joined the Marine Corp at a young age and his service and excellence carried him from enlisted to Captain, placing him in the distinctive group of men called “Mustangs”. He served in both Korea and Vietnam and received many awards and distinctions. Sid was married to his late wife, Iva, for 63 years and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. After 26 years of active duty, Sid and Iva continued their devotion to the Marine Corp and service to the community. Sid and Iva joined the Shriners, the local Mustang chapter, the VFW and SMART, a retiree RV group. They gave both of their time, money, and passion, touching many lives and forming life-long friendships. Sid is survived by his two sons, David and Darrin, and three grandchildren. They will both be missed by family and friends and remembered in the legacy of kindness, generosity and devotion they gave to everyone.
