I worked with Steve at Manzanita Elementary School during the 1985-86 school year; and got to know his wonderful family as well.  Steve was a gifted teacher, gentle soul and friend to all.  Sometimes during the lunch hour, we'd sneak off into a quiet corner or classroom and harmonize to some of our favorite church hymns.  I learned so much about the Old and New Testament, thanks to Steve; and learned to appreciate the many treasures of the desert surrounding Tucson.  May his soul rest in God's perpetual Light, Amen.

I had the pleasure of teaching with Steve at Estes Elementary for several years. Though I taught kindergarten and he taught 6th grade at the time, we connected and I treasured his friendship. Steve was a gentle, caring, faithful man and I valued my conversations with him. My husband also had the opportunity to talk with him at school functions and our occasional meetings in the community. Steve lived the values he spoke about, and he will remain an example to all who knew him. May God comfort you at this time and may your memories bring you peace.
