Sue Ann Landis passed on April 26, 2018 in Tucson, Arizona. She was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Sue will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
She was the daughter of Clifford and Juanita Clubb. She was born on November 11, 1954 in Sigourney, Iowa. Sue grew up in Iowa and Missouri but being in the military, she was able to travel a lot.
Sue was raised with four siblings. She had three brothers, Frank, Charley, and Mark along with one sister, Martha.
She attend Liberty High School in Liberty, Missouri where she met her future husband, Rodney "Rod" Landis. Rod and Sue were married for 48 years.
Sue worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Sue was blessed with three children, one son, Rod Allen, and two daughters, Dawn Marie and Carolyn Sue. Another blessing for Sue was the gift of nine grandchildren, Cody, JC, Nicolle, Isaiah, Jacob, Zachary, Rusty, Trinity, and Aubrey.
Empathic and loyal, Sue was committed to making her family happy. She would go out of her way to make sure her family had what they needed and would give her last dollar to help you if you needed it. She spoke her mind and you always knew where she stood. She made no apologies for that.
Fortunately, Sue enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Sue worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was with the United States Air Force. Sue always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Sue retired from the Air Force after 20 years of dedicated service. Through her hard work, she achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant. Her fellow airmen viewed her as a sister in arms and knew that she was as much a part of their family as their loved ones back home.
Sue enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were playing games on the computer and on her phone. She loved black Friday shopping because she loved finding the perfect gift for those she loved. She made every holiday special and memorable. She created memories to last a life time. Like making cut out cookies with her grandbabies at Christmas to coloring Easter Eggs for Easter to celebrating their birthdays and making the annual trip to the pumpkin patch. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others. She enjoyed laughing and loved talking to people and being around people.
Sue found pleasure in sports. Sue was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following her favorite events whenever she had the chance to do so. Tops on her list were the Kansas City Chiefs football team and the Kansas City Royals baseball team.
Other favorites of hers was the color, Light Blue; the flower, Daisies, and of course her favorite food was Steak and "Taters".
Sue’s faith was important to her. She was Baptist and had a strong faith in God.
When Sue’s retirement finally arrived in 1999, she was well prepared. She then took on being the best "Grammie" in the world. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and supported them in everything they tried. She said it was the best feeling in the world being around them.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her two of her brothers, Frank and Mark.
Sue is survived by her husband, Rod; three children Rod Allen Landis (Tammy), Dawn Marie Lopez (Roy), Carolyn Sue Strohofer (Marc); nine grandchildren Cody (Julie), JC (Lacy), Nicolle (James), Isaiah, Jacob, Zachary, Rusty, Trinity, and Aubrey; two great-grandbabies Logan and Liyla; her brother, Charley Clubb and sister Martha Wright.
Simply stated, Sue was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Sue leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Sue.
Her smile and laughter will forever be contagious and we are better to have had spent time with her. She leaves her mark on all our Souls.
