As my dads first born, my mom told me about how she had to make him stop picking me up so much, because he was spoiling me. But I understand his excitement over his first little girl, he was just as proud of me as I am of him. He was a great inspiration to me, and Janice Humphrey his second little girl, whom followed his footsteps and also served in the Army.  He accomplished so much and wore many hats along his journey ( Army M16 instructor, school educator like his father whom taught at Gambling University, and he also dabbled with real estate just to name a few). But his real love was working with wood, I remember when he showed me one of his blueprints, it was just awesome. His hobby helped me to understand why I like to create with tree branches :).  I even made my own Christmas tree one year with bare branches, I gave it life once again, I inherited the love of wood from my DAD :) even now I create center pieces and wall  designs with tree branches, yep that's the humphrey blood in me :).  And he was also a mechanic, I remember when he put a new alternator in my first little car, he made me sooo proud. My dad was full of good advice, if you didn't listen it was on you.  I remember, when my mom, Letha Humphrey, made her transition, dad told me that you never get over the loss of your loved ones you just adjust, so here I am now adjusting to his transition.
When I need to see him, I will just look at the mirror and smile, because like he use to say to me, " like daddy, like daughter".

So I’ve not talked to you in over a year and we make a drive to Tucson only to find you and mommies home empty and for sale! There are no words I could find in my heart knowing I didn’t get to say goodbye to you and for that I’m so very sorry! May you now rest well with Mommie in heaven! I’m glad Jayden and I had the opportunity to visit with you after grandma passed! 💔

I enjoyed working with Joye at Duffy Elementary. We called him Joye for years before he told us his name was Thomas. Those were very good years.


Mr. Humphrey was such a kind, thoughtful man.  I was about 13 when I found my best friend in Dana and got to know the Humphreys. 

Through many sleepovers and day trips I got to know Mr. Humphrey. He was young at heart and had such a kind, warm smile and a funny sense of humor! I loved his morning breakfasts and his thoughts of wisdom that helped shape our young minds. 

He so loved his children, that was so apparent. He will be missed by all.
