Passed away to join our Lord in heaven on January 22nd, 2013. Vincent was born in El Tigre, Sonora, Mexico, August 28, 1915 where his U.S. born father, Benito G. Suarez was working. He grew up in Douglas AZ, and attended Douglas High School and the University of Arizona, prior to joining the Civilian Conservation Corps working on public works projects in the Tucson area at Sabino Canyon and Colossal Cave. Vince enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He trained in El Paso Texas as part of the 5th Cavalry Regiment of the 1st Cavalry Division, which was the last horse Cavalry unit before assignment to the African Campaign during WW II working under General George Patton. Vincent met and married his wife, Maria Dolores Tapia of Casablanca, French Morocco, Africa during his time there. The family moved to Douglas AZ while awaiting the end of the war and Vince's return. Vince worked as a Civil Service Contracting Officer at Fort Huachuca AZ for over 25 years. Vince and Maria Dolores raised a family of six children while in Fort Huachuca. They later moved to Tucson in 1962. Vince and Maria Dolores were married 58 years before she passed away in 2001. Vince will be remembered as a very hard working father and husband who always supported his children and wife in any way necessary. He will always be in our hearts as a caring and loving father. He is survived by his six children, Vincent Jr. (Esther) of Sierra Vista AZ, Annette Setherly (Alan), Robert, Dolores Anderson (Louis) of Tucson, Jeannette Suarez of Denver CO, and Sylvia Suarez-Snedaker (Dave) of Colorado Springs CO. Ten grandchildren; Emily, Andrea, Nicole, Danielle, Chris, Carlos, Devin, Marissa, Alec and Alyssa. Five Great Grandchildren Michael, Ava, Sofia, Ivan and Logan.
A Visitation will be held Saturday January 26th at 1pm, followed by a Mass at 2pm at East Lawn Palms Memorial Chapel, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Burial will follow at 3pm at East Lawn Cemetery. A special thanks to the Hospice staff at Peppi's House for their loving care of Vincent in his final journey home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory be made to Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Tucson.
