Virginia Rivera Lem, age 96, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday March 19, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born on January 31st, 1928 and spent her childhood in Tucson and Santa Ana, Sonora. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed spending time with the love of her life, children, and many nieces and nephews. Her biggest expression of love was through her cooking, and her tortillas were loved by many family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Juan (Ramona) Rivera, siblings Esther Salinas, Armando Rivera, Francisco Rivera, Adela Montaño, Betina Rivera, José Luis Gutierrez and husband George Lem. She is survived by her sons George Lem, John (Rose) Lem, and brother Enrique Rivera. We would like to extend our gratitude to Tony (Diana) Chavez, Lisa Chavez, Angie Minns, Paul (Carmen) Wilcox, Christina Lertigue, Lydia Kindle, caregivers Marta Badilla and Norma Rodriguez along with all family and friends that provided support.
