

Wayne Michael Chico 10/09/50-10/07/15 preceded death by his father and mother, Augustine and Edith, his brothers Austin and Joseph, his nephew Joseph and his great niece Ellilah. He is survived by his children Lindsey (Edward) and Michael his grandchildren Tyler and Liliana, his brother Dennis (Linda), sisters Theresa and Rebecca (Vincent) and his nieces and nephews.
Wayne was born and raised in Tucson, AZ. He graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1968 and went on to attend the University of Arizona. While at the U of A, Wayne and his classmates designed the wall murals for Baboquivari High School on the Tohono O’odham Nation. He later became the Executive Director of the Tohono O’odham Nation Housing Authority where he worked for 20 years. During this time he was the founder of AMERIND Housing Insurance and served as the Chairman of the National American Indian Housing Council. He was an advocate for improving Native American lives through better housing. Wayne was an avid sports fanatic and loved the Arizona Wildcats. Wayne was raised in a strong, close-knit family and was happiest when his family was around. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. A rosary will be held at 6:00pm on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at South Lawn Mortuary. On Monday, October 12, 2015 a mass will be held at San Xavier del Bac at 8:00am with an interment at South Lawn Cemetery.
