We had the privilege of being neighbors with the Crays in Chichester and had the pleasure of knowing Bill during his retirement. He was a kind, generous and honorable man and is sadly missed.

My Sincere Condolences to the Cray Family. It was an honor and privilege to work with Cpl. Cray at the 1974 Weirs Beach motorcycle weekend. At that time I was with a city police department and we were paired up with a trooper for the weekend (three day event back then). I was lucky enough to work with Trooper Cray. I am totally convinced that there was never a more sincere and talented member of the New Hampshire State Police. May He Rest In Eternal Peace!

The first time I ever heard of William Cray was a story in the magazine Law and Order circa 1973 about the new baton that the State Police were carrying. (PR-24) It recounted then Lt. Cray intervening in an assault on a female during bike week.  I formed an opinion of this man I had never met and when I had the honor to meet and work with him, I was not disappointed.  He was everything that a young Trooper would and should aspire to be. I still remember with great pride the last inspection review that then Capt. Cray submitted about me.  Major Cray was everything that people have said in the postings before mine ...and more.  I am a better person for having known him.  Major William Cray, standing tall, leading by example and always supportive...Thank You Sir.   Rest in Peace, you have earned it.  (Troop C 1978-1982)

A great man to know and work with, as a Trooper and beyond.  I remember and reflect on the day we last spoke.  You are a special friend to me, and I will miss you!!

Sorry sorry to hear of your passing Uncle Bill. I wish I could have got to see more of you after Auntie Joan's passing. I did try and get in touch with you but you never responded. I will always treasure the years I spent with you and Auntie Joan. We had many many good times that I will never forget that!!

When I completed my Trainee year, I reported to Troop D and he was my Troop Commander. He went on to become, my Mentor, my Leader, my Friend.
