

William Richard Hartman, known to his friends and loved ones as “Bill”, was born April 3, 1939 in Trenton County, Sussex, New Jersey to Bernice Miller Case and Richard Patterson Hartman. Bill loved politics and education, which led him to major in government studies. He went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Political Science.
Bill met Marcia when she was taking classes at Hayward State College in the late 1960s. They were married on November 28, 1969. In January of 1974, Bill earned his Community College Instructor Credential. Bill and Marcia then moved to Pleasant Hill, where Bill was a professor at Hayward State (later named University at Hayward California) and Marcia taught grammar school in Alameda, California. After retiring from teaching, Bill work for Liquid Air Corporation, retiring in 1995.
Bill and Marcia lived in the mountains on the beautiful Trinity River, in Northern, California until they made their final move to Tucson, Arizona in 2002. Bill loved literature and enjoyed hosting several book clubs discussing authors such as C.S. Lewis. He also was interested in horticulture growing beautiful roses. Bill will be missed and remembered by many. May his memory be eternal!
