

Born in St. James, MO on April 2, 1911 to Thomas and Sarah McNerney, journeyed to join his beloved wife of 65 years, Ida, on May 2, 2012. Preceded in death by brothers Eugene, Eddie, and Milton, and also by Tim, Jerry and Gladys Bonney. In early life he caddied at Glen Echo Country Club (St. Louis) then, in high school, played baseball.
He married, forming a bond in 1936, to Ida Elizabeth. He moved to Tucson in 1944 and went to work for the Tucson Post Office as a mail carrier until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of North Tucson Baptist Church and Silverbell Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and treasurer at both churches. He also held an office in the Pyramid Credit Union.
He is survived by son Dennis (Rebecca); two beloved grandchildren, Helen Beard and Roger McNerney; great-grandchildren Krystal Birdsong (Charlie), Faith Beard, Rebekah Beard, and Gabriel Valenzuela McNerney; great-great grandchildren Willow Birdsong, Colton Birdsong; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews in St. Louis, MO. He was known to family and friends as “Great Grandpa Casey”.
He was dearly loved and respected by all who knew him. He loved the Lord Jesus and was always willing to help everyone, and tell them what the Lord had done for him. Contributions can be made in his name to Silverbell Baptist Church, or to your favorite charity. Godspeed and God Bless, Dad. A Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 12, 2012, and a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, followed by interment at East Lawn Palms Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
