TUCSON- William “Bill” Marvin Tanner Jr, 63, formally from Casa Grande, passed away on May 16, 2019. Mr. Tanner was born on February 17, 1956, in Tucson, Arizona to William Marvin Tanner Sr. and Norma Jean (Taeger)Tanner.
He graduated from Casa Grande High School in 1974. Upon graduation, Bill joined the United States Navy. He served on the USS Roanoke Ship as an electrician. After his military service, Bill began his career in 1979 at the Arizona State Prison in Florence Arizona working over 20 of those years at Central Unit. After leaving the State Prison in 2001, he moved to Tucson where he met his beloved fiancée Eileen Kimmins, who will deeply miss him. Bill had a love for computers and began working for AOL in 2001 until 2006. He then went to work for Convergys which changed hands to Concentrix. He leaves behind many friends and coworkers. He won over everyone he met with his calming demeanor, deep voice, and witty charm.
Bill is also survived by his Step Mother Marguerite (Fearn-Gibson)Tanner, two brothers, Eric Douglas Tanner of Las Vegas, Nevada and Joel Norman Tanner(Luann) of Sahuarita, and sister Laura(Tanner)Osborn(John) of Casa Grande, step-sisters Carol(Gibson)Zimmerman(William-BZ) of Casa Grande and Karen(Gibson)Gnepper(Terry) of Lewisville, Texas and step-brother Ron Gibson(Shelli) of Casa Grande. He had ten nephews and seven nieces.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and step brother Douglas Gibson. Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 29th at 10:00am at Del Angel South Lawn, 5401 S. Park Ave. Tucson, Az. 85706. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Veterans Wounded Warrior Project.
