William Doyle Wallis, age 85, after suffering a lengthy illness with heart disease, passed on to be with the Lord on July 29, 2016 in Green Valley, AZ. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joan Cook Wallis; his two daughters, Jeanice Ann Smith (Mark) of Tucson, AZ, Connie Anita Wallis of Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren, William Todd Smith (Brittany), Tara Ann Stevenson (Matthew), Taylor Alexander Wallis and six great-grandchildren and many friends and loved ones.
William (Bill) was born in Gibson County, Indiana on May 24, 1931 to William Doyle Wallis, Sr. and Mary Bertha Buck Wallis. He graduated in 1949 from Fort Branch High School in Fort Branch, Indiana. Bill moved to Tucson, AZ in 1952 from Indiana. He attended the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ. He was a Veteran of Korea serving his country in the time of war as a SFC with the U.S. Army. He worked as the Supervisor of Logistics for Bell Technical Operations, Tucson, AZ for many years retiring in the late 1980s.
Bill was a faithful member of the Country Club Church of Christ, Tucson, AZ for many years. The minister, Hugh De Long will be conducting the Funeral services at East Lawn Palms Mortuary Chapel on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 2:00. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Road, Tucson, AZ.
