

Mom graduated from Lincoln High school in Tacoma, WA and then attended Washington State University where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega. She majored in Music Education and after graduation taught in St. John, Washington and then Stanwood, Washington, where she met her first husband, Charles John DeWitte. She and dad were married in 1950 and resided in Everett, WA where she was a stay home mom. Several years later the family moved to Priest Point in Marysville and she returned to teaching Business Education at Cascade High School in Everett, WA, retiring In 1985. After losing dad in 1975, she remarried 11 years later to Richard Cox and enjoyed many years of travel to various countries as well as 20 years spent during the winter months in Yuma, AZ. Her favorite place, however, was the little cabin on Hat Island where she enjoyed clamming, crabbing and a nice glass of wine around the camp fire.
Mom leaves behind her children, Nancy DeWitte Goodfellow (Greg) of Loomis, WA and Daniel DeWitte (Kathy) of Tulalip, WA. Her sister Janet Turnbull (Lee) of Fircrest, WA and sister-in-law Johanna Langlow of Tacoma, WA. Numerous nephews and nieces and her good friend since childhood, Jeanne Wheelock. Mom’s lights of her life were her four grandchildren: Kyle and Kirk Sluys ,Chelsea Doi (Shawn) and Matt DeWitte. She also leaves three great grandchildren.
Mom was preceded in death by her first husband Charles in 1975, and her second husband Richard in 2015, as well as her sister Ellen Anne Jensen and brother John Langlow.
A special thank you to A Holistic Adult Family Home, LLC, Marysville, WA for the outstanding care mom received during her last year.
It was mom’s wish to be cremated and buried next to dad’s grave. Due to COVID, there will be a family burial later in the spring.
