Armous (A.K.) Poyner, age 89, born March 7, 1924, passed away at home on July 21, 2013. He was born to Robert E. Poyner and Auda (Wade) Poyner in Everett, WA. He attended Tenino High School. He worked for Buchanan Lumber Company and then the Olympia Brewery where he retired after 28 years. He enjoyed many activities including fishing, hunting, clam digging, and gardening. A.K. was a voracious reader. He enjoyed hanging out with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. All who know him as Papa, his family, and his many friends will greatly miss his laughter, his fun antics and the songs he sang. A.K. was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his wife, Cathryn; children, Ken (Susie) Poyner, Deb (Syd) Beckett, and Wendy (Doug) Baker; by 7 grandchildren, Sarah (Aaron) Poyner Wallis, Rob (Nicole) Poyner, Jay Beckett, Dan Beckett, Doug (Tamara) Baker, Krissie (DJ) Jones, and Emily (Adam) Poyner Dunn; 2 great granddaughters, Kate Poyner and Ripley Baker; and many extended family. A celebration of Armous’ life will be announced at a later date.
