On Monday, August 3rd, 2020, Arnold Leonardo Fernandez was called home at the age of 48. The world has lost a great husband, father, son, brother, and friend.
Arnold was born in Manila, Philippines, on March 31st, 1972, to father Arturo Fernandez and mother Ester Fernandez. During his adolescence, he had a love for cycling, new wave music, reading, and world history. On his senior year of high school, he met the absolute love of his life, his wife Sierra Fernandez. The two married, and spent many years working hard to build a life together with their three children, Jonah, John Armand, and Amaris Gail.
A hardworking man with his family in his heart, Arnold worked in the medical field for years before enlisting in the United States Army on October 2004, where he served as a veterinary food inspector for 16 years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Before his untimely passing, Arnold loved to travel with his family, creating everlasting memories. He would make the drive to explore new places and new food, no matter how long.
Everyone remembered him for his smile- family, friends, and colleagues. As kind and loving as he was, Arnold was also a humorous man. There is no shortage of stories of his jokes, wit, pranks, and funny experiences that he has shared with his loved ones. His energy could light up a room and uplift anyone’s spirit.
Arnold was survived by his wife of 29 years, Sierra; his three children; his mother Ester; his sister Estela; his brother Arturo; and his only grandson Spencer, whom he fondly called “Bugugu”.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
