The Family of Arthur Justman Sr. relocated from Tacoma to Yelm in 1920 after purchasing a local farm. With children Mildred, Robert and George they immediately painted their new home and with four foot high white letters on the barn proudly declared it A-Justman-Farm. Soon thereafter came Arthur John Charles Justman JR. born October 27th 1922, in the house.
He later graduated Yelm High School after serving as president of the FFA. In 1942, He became a partner with his father where they ran a grade A dairy, a chicken and blackberry farm. He also transported goods to market from other local farmers, to support the war effort, while his brothers served in the Armed services. He was also the head of the local Palomino Association.
He met Georgia Herbaugh in 1950 when she and two friends were hosted by his parents while they led a program for children at his church. He proposed (in two weeks) as she left and it wasn’t until he took a long drive in a borrowed car, a month later, that he found out her answer. They were married later that same year and were inseparable until her death 55 years later.
Both ordained ministers, they led services in the McKenna home for 14 years and were active in all aspects of ministry in their local Assembly of God church. Art married many couples and they loved to sing and preach the gospel with each other and their children. They purchased Rock Springs Ranch in southeastern Washington, where they raised cattle, horses and hay. They organized a summer camp on the ranch for children featuring: swimming, hiking, camping in tee-pees, horseback riding and the message of Jesus’ love.
They also ministered in Jamaica both on the streets and in churches.
Arthur often would share insights into life, teaching on the quality of stock, coaching on the essentials of a small farm and the expounding the gospel. Whether it was testing the new fence posts by the river, nursing a wounded owl back to health or diagnosing the ailments of animals. He rarely missed an opportunity to show his love for animals, people on the street, his six children, his wife and God.
On February 10, 2016 Arthur followed his wife to Heaven surrounded by his family in the same house he was born in as was his wish. He was able to see three more generations carry on his name before he passed away. He is survived by children Loral Lee and Kreg Tustison, Arthur Justman III and his wife Lynn, Daniel and Monica Justman, Benjamin and Linda Justman, Elaine and Michael Quantrell and Alita and Eric Quantrell. Also 24 grandchildren, their spouses and 34 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church 602 103rd Ave. NE Yelm, WA.
