Barbara attended University High School in Los Angeles and was graduated from UCLA in 1949 where she was president of her Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority her senior year and was married to her husband Dick in 1949. The couple raised their family in San Marino, California. Barbara was active in and gained many friends as a volunteer in the Junior League of Pasadena. In 1994, Barbara and Dick moved to Olympia, Washington to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She was a dedicated Christian and was active as a volunteer for St. Anne’s Guild at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Olympia. In her younger years she loved to garden, play tennis and walk. Barbara was a remarkable piano player, and she thoroughly enjoyed her time playing. She played until a month before her passing.
Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Her greatest joy was her family and she was loved and respected by all. She was preceded in death by her husband Dick and is survived by her three children, Rick (Cathy) Williams of Olympia, Washington, Sue (Dave) Wheeler of Newberg, Oregon and Mike (Brenda) Williams of Olympia. She cared deeply for all her grandchildren: Elizabeth (Fred) Weber, Allison Williams, Richard (Sarah) Williams, Ryan Sester, Kari (Jimmy) Davis, Henry (Kate) Williams and Cameron Williams. She was very proud of her great-grandchildren, including Caden Davis, Parker Davis, Rhiannon Viersen, Madison Sester, Alexis Williams, and Josephine Williams.
Services will be held on Wednesday, October 19 at 11:30am at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Olympia. The family suggests donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 114 20th Ave SE, Olympia, WA 98501.
