Berge (Skip) Alan Anderson, DDS Jesus said... "Because I live, Ye shall live also" John 14:19

Skip passed on to Heaven May 30th, 2011 at University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle after a long battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

He was born to Berge and Alice Anderson in Yuma, AZ on January 26, 1944. Skip grew up in Olympia and remained close friends with many of his classmates. He had fond memories of playing football for Olympia High School. At Washington State University he earned a Bachelor of Arts, was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha, and became a loyal fan of Cougar athletics. His love of flying led to his first career as a pilot for TWA. Wanting a more secure and settled life for his family, he followed his dad and uncles into dentistry, graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 1979, and moved back to Olympia where he and his brother Rod joined in practice at Westside Dental for over 30 years.

Skip enjoyed bird hunting and raised various sporting dogs. Even his Standard Poodles, Baylee and Lucy, had to try hunting. He loved coaching and mentoring his sons and their friends in basketball, soccer and football. He encouraged young people to take advantage of all the opportunities the United States has to offer.

Skip is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ellen, and her mother Lori Kernander, their son Garrick (Janie), and grandchildren Asia and Ezra, their son Ryan (Paige) and grandchildren Shaye and Caleb, their son Kyle, his sister Verree Parks, his brother Rod (Carol), and many loved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ellen, My sympathies to you and your family. Skip and I were friends at OHS and later, unbeknownst to either of us, we became commercial pilots for different airlines. I remember fondly Skip's singular smile and his friendly manner. Skip's father was my dentist as I grew up, and Skip became my mother's dentist when Skip took over the business. May God bless you and help you carry the burden which accompanies the loss of a loved one.

You were not just my employer, you were my friend. You were so generous and genuinely cared what happened to me. You are at the top of the list of people, I love and respect, the most in life.
I enjoyed the moments sharing stories of our families and our innermost thoughts and feelings. I learned so much from you like raising children to investing in a home. You stood by me in some of my weakest moments and supported me by not only telling me what I needed to hear but also letting me know if I needed anything...
I wish I could have done for you when you were in your weakest moments.
Ellen...Skip loved you so very much. Especially when you went to see your sisters and he couldn't cook for himself. He told me you took such good care of him and the boys for years that they never had to do for themselves and you were a great mother. He would tell me every time you made him chocolate chip cookies...and then Baylee would steal them in the night. He spoke of you with love in his heart.
He spoke often of his children and how he was so proud of their accomplishments. He loved his grandchildren and posted pictures of them and showed them to his patients.
Skip was very generous to his patients also. He gave treatment without charging so many times to help people out.
This very generous and loved man will be missed terribly not only by me but by many!

Smiles and prayers Skip. I will see you when I get to the kingdom.

Ellen; I am so sorry that time was so short from when I first met you and Skip. I could tell when I was with your sister Cheryl that you both were loving and caring people. Cheryl kept me up on skips progeres amd I added you both to my prayers and were looking forward to him getting a transplant and getting better and I would have time to get to know you both better. It did not happen but we all know that he is in a better place and he is much better off. We know he is out of pain and suffering and can breath again. Hugs and Love to you and your family.

Skip was one of my best friends in Dental school. We shared many challenging and fun times together. I always admired his ability to just get it done. He always seemed to get stuff finished way before me, yet in the end it turned out just as good or better than mine. I admired and in a way was a little jealous that I couldn't be like Skip and chill a little more. When we both started our pactices in Olympia, I'd call to see how things were going and he would be leaps and bounds beyond me, trying his hand at new things that I didn't have anywhere near the confidence to do.
He was always so layed back, but got er done. Mi Casa, Su Casa he told me after I sold my practice and needed a place to treat my family. I know that is how he felt about everyone he was close to. That made me feel special. I love you man and will miss you dearly. I know he had a strong faith and that I will see him again.

Ellen, you and the family are in Deb and my prayers.

Thank you, Skip, for your smile, laughter, charm and sense of humor. Thank you for your generosity- for always wanting better for your family and friends than you wanted for yourself. Thank you for making me one of your own. From the day I married Ryan, I fell under your protective umbrella and knew you would go to the ends of the earth for me. I hope you know I'd have done the same for you. You were a great Dad, Grandpa, boss, friend and man. I consider myself blessed beyond measure to have been your daughter. I love you and miss you.

I was a patient of Skips for many many years and was so sad to see him retire. As far as I'm concerned, Skip was one of the best dentists in the area. My condolances to his friends and family.
