Betty was born in American Fork Utah on March 26th, 1932. Her father Merlin Hatch was a farmer and Edna Hatch a homemaker. She is the only girl among five brothers. She was married to Richard Smith on June 23rd, 1950. Together they had four children. She enjoyed latchhooking, crosswords, music, singing, musicals, reading, staying up to date with current events, sewing, flowers, gardening and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard W. Smith, brothers Keith Hatch and Glade Hatch, and her parents Merlin and Edna Hatch. She is survived by her children Gary L. Smith (Olympia), Janet O. Smith (Olympia), Randy W. Smith (Rochester WA), and Judy D. Stephens (Ethel WA) along with her brothers Veon, Cline, and Theron. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
