Calvert James (Jim) Miller was born on August 11, 1933, in St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington to Robert H. & Julia Francis Miller (Oliver). He passed into Heaven on Wednesday, November 22nd at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife, Linda, and loving children Dr. Rick (LouAnn) Miller, Debbie (David) Endres, stepdaughters Diane Dodd, LouAnn Miller, Michelle Dice, and Siouxsie Imri and stepson David Franklin. Jim is also survived by grandchildren: Ben Miller, Dr. Roy (Erika) Miller, USAF Master Sergeant Michael (Dameca) Miller, Katryna Endres (who he mentored in the farrier profession), and Elliot Endres. Jim came from a long-time Tumwater family and family roots were among the original settlers of Tumwater, known as New Market then. He had built the family home on family property overlooking Tumwater in 1962. Jim served in the Navy during the Korean War and retired from the Olympia Brewing Company after 35 years.
He was a passionate farrier (horse shoer) and raised quarter horses and white-face cattle. His carpentry hobby resulted in home improvements, numerous saleable items, and family gifts. Jim was also a hunter, target-shooter, and fisherman.
As one of his hobbies, Jim designed, made, and gave to family many special quilts using a quilting machine in his workshop.
Jim, Dad, Grampa, Friend: your charming smile and unique ways are sorely missed. You lived and loved us for 90 amazing years. Until we meet again in Heaven, we love you!
