Carol was the eldest of five children born to Mildred and Darwin Crites and was raised in Hoquiam, Washington. She graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1960. On October 5, 1963, she married Delbert Lewin, and together they built a life in Olympia, Washington, where they lovingly raised their three children: April, Beth, and Matthew.
A devoted homemaker, Carol found joy in gardening, sewing, painting, crafting, cooking, and baking. She was known for always having warm cookies ready for her children after school. Once her youngest child became a teenager, Carol began working at Lane Bryant Clothing Store as a sales clerk. She delighted in helping customers find the perfect outfits. In later years, she pursued her artistic passions by selling her paintings and handmade jewelry at local craft shows.
Carol’s faith was central to her life. A devout Christian, she attended Evergreen Christian Center and explored other churches throughout the Olympia area. She cherished her weekly Bible group and the close friendships she formed within her church community.
One of Carol’s greatest joys was watching her six grandchildren – Tyler Gonzalez, Aaliyah Lewin, Eva Lewin, Abigail Holbrook, Jayden Lewin, and Kylee Lewin – grow and thrive.
Carol was preceded in death by her first child and her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Del Lewin; her children April Ducic (David), Beth Holbrook (John), and Matthew Lewin (Lisa); her six grandchildren; her siblings Dan Crites (Terri), Nancy Crites, Janet Baker (Lynn), and Steve Crites; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
May Carol’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the event center located at Western Plaza, 1841 Trosper Road SW, Tumwater, Washington.
