Casey Lee Johnson of Olympia Washington passed away on May 4, 2019 in his home from heart failure. He was 55 years old being born on August 18, 1963 in Olympia Washington to Manford and Brenda Johnson.
Before starting school Casey’s family moved to Soldotna Alaska where he developed a love of the outdoors. Fishing, hunting, playing hockey and baseball were a part of his childhood. At the beginning of high school Casey moved back to the Olympia area and graduated in 1981 from Timberline High School.
Casey worked a variety of jobs throughout his life including Albertson’s, Godfathers Pizza, Thurston County Clerk’s Office, Allcity Telcom, and at the Thurston County Assessor’s Office. He loved his most current job with the Assessor’s Office and was thankful for the opportunities they gave him.
Casey’s enjoyment of baseball took him to playing softball as an adult. In 1992 while playing on a co-ed softball team he met his wife Alaine. In 1993 they were married in Olympia. In March of 1997 the most important person to him in the world was born, his son Matthew. As Matt grew up Casey took on the role of helping out or coaching Matt’s baseball teams. He really enjoyed trying to pass the enjoyment of the game on to the kids.
One of his greatest enjoyments in life was his boat. He enjoyed fishing in Puget Sound and just being out in nature on the water. He considered this to be “his church”. The place where he could think and contemplate life. He loved to fish for salmon, steelhead, and bass. He also enjoyed being out in the woods hunting for deer and elk.
Casey enjoyed music with classic rock being his favorite. He liked talk radio, comedians and pod casts.
