Daniel John Contris

Daniel John Contris was born to Mike and Beverly Contris February 26, 1958 at old St.Peter Hospital, two blocks from their family home on Olympia’s westside. Dan was twins with brother Greg, and the last of five boys in the family.

Dan attended Garfield Elementary, St. Michael’s Elementary for two years, Jefferson Junior High and Olympia High School, graduating 1976. He graduated from St. Martin’s College in 1988, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Dan also earned his CPA degree in 1989.

Dan retired from a state government career that included Department of Revenue, Labor and Industries and with the State Auditor’s Office. He worked his way up to CFO with the Department of Revenue.

Dan married his wife Lisa in 1986. They had two children, Rachel and James. Lisa’s main job was to raise the children and working part time while Dan worked to support the family.

Dan is survived by his wife Lisa, daughter Rachel (Contris) Mattox and husband Steve and son James (Taylor), bothers Mike Contris Jr. (Yvonne), Steve Contris (Kim), Mark Contris, and Dan’s twin brother Greg Contris and granddaughter Ahri and grandson Austin.

The service will be held at Mills and Mills funeral home in Tumwater on August 22, 2026 at noon.
