David (Ghostrider) Chamberlin passed away peacefully in his sleep at home August 27th, 2021, after an almost two-year battle with lung cancer. The youngest of four he was born September 11th, 1951, to William and Catherine Chamberlin and grew up in Tacoma WA. He was drafted during the Vietnam war where he served in the Army’s 101st airborne. David had a previous marriage, but he met the love of his life Kerry (smith) on December 31st, 1985, at the Point Tavern in Tumwater WA. They were married on August 22nd, 1989 and spent the next thirty-five years building a life and driving each other crazy (mostly in a good way).
The good the bad they did it side by side hand in hand. David loved Kerry with all that he was, their bond and love was the true definition of soulmates. David worked in many industries but found his true calling as a truck driver in 1994. Kerry was able to join him in 2001 and together they trucked their way across all 48 continental states and Alaska. They saw and experienced things in this country most will only hear stories about and some things no one should have to witness/experience like natural disasters, car wrecks, etc. They came off the road in 2009 when an injury forced David to retire. They spent the next several years exploring, traveling/working in the hydroplane circuit, and living life to its fullest. David was in a major car accident in 2015 and while it slowed him down a bit it didn’t stop him from enjoying life and his family. He had the heart of a warrior never gave up and fought till the end.
David had the biggest heart and the most outgoing personality. He made friends with everyone he met and was always there for a friend in need. David loved the outdoors camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting were among his favorite activities. He also had an enormous love of dogs and over the years he and Kerry adopted/rescued several. David loved his family some of the greatest joys of his life came from watching his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids experiencing what this life has to offer. He was always there to give a helpful opinion or a hard reality check depending on what the situation needed.
He is missed beyond words. David was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife Kerry, 4 dogs, 4 children (2 from his previous marriage and two from Kerry’s), 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will be having a private ceremony to celebrate his life.
