David A. Gates, age 54, of Olympia, WA, passed away Monday, July 2,2012 at home after a short battle with lung cancer. He was preceded in death by his father Robert N. Gates, Jr. He is survived by his wife Jeri Denison-Gates, stepson and family Lance, Kami and Skyler Denison,his mother Noel Gates, brothers Bob (Nora), Rick (Cheryl), James, Pat and Mark (Sonja) Gates, and sisters Joan (Roland) Ginnaty and Megan (Jesse) Baber and many nieces and nephews. David was a gentle soul who never met a person who didn't take to him. He was an accomplished chef who enjoyed cooking for family and friends. He loved children and animals, and had a special bond with all of his nieces and nephews. Donations can be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Visitation will be held from 4pm to 5pm prior to the Funeral Service at 5pm, Friday, July 6, 2012, Mills & Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Rd SW, Tumwater, WA.
