Dennis passed away after a 30-month gallant battle with cancer. Dennis was born in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana and grew up in the Three Mile community. He attended school at Lone Rock and Stevensville. He worked in the lumber industry until moving to Alaska in 1974. He served the town of Nome, Alaska as a police officer until 1976. Dennis worked on the transcontinental pipeline as did many others. He made a friend that encouraged him to continue his training in the operations of heavy equipment. After completing his schooling in Washington, Dennis spent a month visiting family and friends in Bitterroot. At that time, Dennis accepted Christ into his life and was baptized into Our Lord at the Church of Christ in Stevensville.
Dennis spent several more years in Fairbanks working for the city. He transferred to the City of Anchorage in 1990 where he worked until his retirement in 2005. Dennis met his wife, Maxine (Mickey) Wendler in 1991; they married in 1992. They renewed their vows on their 21st Wedding Anniversary in 2013. In 2006, Denny and Mickey bought their retirement home in Centralia, Washington. Dennis enjoyed his retirement spending time with Mickey, family, friends and his beloved dogs. He liked puttering in his garage, maintaining their home and property, and beach combing on the Washington coast.
