He attended school in Buckeye Lake, Ohio. On June 7, 1963 he married the love of his life Judy Stender in Olympia, WA. He worked for Weyerhaeuser Company from 1963 until his retirement in 1999. He was a man of many interests including woodworking having build swings, picnic tables and Hope Chest for family and friends. He helped restore a Pope Waverly 1903 Electric Car with Ron Kohart and Tom Needam. He also enjoy bowling and baseball for the Weyerhaeuser Team and was the biggest fan of the Mariners and Seahawks.
Donald is survived by his wife, Judy Mattingly; daughter Cindy Gotcher; daughter Debbie; son James; daughter-in-law Pam; and son Daniel; brother Bobby, 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Sonny, Carol, Billy and Sandra.
A graveside service for Donald will be held Friday, August 16, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Mills Memorial Park, 5725 Littlerock Rd. SW, Tumwater, Washington 98512. Following the graveside service will be a reception at 2:30 PM at Pellegrino's Event Center, 5757 Littlerock Rd. SW, Tumwater, WA.
