She was born August 8, 1931, in Olympia WA to Frank and Sylvia Turner.
Doris played saxophone in the marching band and graduated from Olympia High School in 1949.
She married Donald Samuelson on July 28, 1950. They had been married for 70 years before his passing in 2020.
Doris was a member of Evergreen Christian Center of Olympia. Her passion was teaching Children’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School which she did for over 30 years. She also enjoyed traveling with family, gardening and helping others.
Doris is survived by her children – Kristina Samuelson, Lacey; Sandra (Jim) Knox, Oklahoma and Doug (Patty) Samuelson, Olympia. Granddaughters Jennifer Haines, Lacey and Kassandra Henry, Chehalis as well as great-granddaughter’s Haley Parker, Lacey and Rowyn Henry, Chehalis. She is also survived by her sisters Shirl DeBay and Marilyn Hatfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don Samuelson, her sister Madge Ames and brothers Herb, Ed and Virgil Turner.
A viewing and visitation for Doris will be held Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Mills and Mills Funeral Home. A funeral service will occur Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 12:00 PM. A graveside service will occur Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 1:00 PM.
