

Our Angel-Our Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma and Great Great Grandma, Elsie Viola Thomson, peacefully passed away on September 17, 2020. She was born April 9, 1921 to Alina and Fred Morris in Olympia, WA. Elsie grew up on a five-acre farm on Wiggins Road and had three brothers, Johnny, Chuck and Ed Morris. She graduated from Lacey Elementary School and Olympia High School. Elsie met her first love and forever companion, Bill Thomson, on a blind date in October 1941 and they were married on July 10, 1942. After graduating from Secretarial School, Elsie went to work for the Employment Security Department and was there for twenty-five years.
She is survived by her two daughters Christine (Ken) Whipple and Annie Hoover, three grandchildren Susie Faraone, Andrea (Tim) Schwartz and Adi Khalsa, seven great grandchildren Austin Faraone, Taci (Noah) Coursey, Hallie, Jamen and Teegan Schwartz, Madison Martin and Cedar Frost, two great great grandchildren Grayson Coursey and Dezmond Martin, many nieces and nephews including Karen (Bill) Pierce, Charlene (Ray) Baker, Susan Barnett, Geri (Kip) Gustin and Ron (Tige) Gould and two very special friends Penny Tederman and Eileen Scott. Elsie was so loved by so many.
Her angelic smile was her trademark. Her philosophy on life was to always be happy and always find the good in any situation. She was so patient, kind, caring, energetic and determined. She loved growing flowers and flower arranging and entering her beautiful arrangement in shows. Her specialty was miniature arrangements. Elsie also enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing, going to church and holiday bazaars and attending VASA, Runeberg and Red Hat functions. She dedicated fifteen years to serve as chairman of the Blue Star Memorial Marker Program which honors all veterans who served in World War II.
“Though your smile is gone forever and your hand we cannot touch, we still have many memories of the one we loved so much. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we’ll never part. God has you in His keeping, we have you in our heart”. We miss you so but know that you are with Dad now.
