

He was born April 24, 1916 in Appam, North Dakota, passed on January 17, 2014 at St. Peter’s Hospital Lacey, Washington.
Elvin grew up with his aunts and uncles in his early years as his mom died when he was 2. His father remarried when Elvin was 10, he and his brother were then reunited with his father and father’s new wife. Elvin attended schools until the 8th grade, and then worked on his dad’s farm. Later he worked for the railroad and joined the Civilian Conservation Corps for one year.
In 1941 he came to Washington State where he and Alma C Nelson married one year later. He went to work for The Boeing Airplane Company for a short period of time before his military service. He served in WWII, and was honorably discharged in 1945. Returned home to Alma, they had two children Ron in 1947 and Val in 1949.
He returned to work at Boeing in 1945 and retired in 1979.
During his years at Boeing he enjoyed fishing, camping and numerous sports and even handcrafted his own boat. Elvin and Alma enjoyed their Friday and Saturday nights out dancing with family and friends. They made Seattle their home from 1945 to 1978 when they moved to Scott Lake. He took up and enjoyed golfing and became a part-time snowbird, wintering in Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his son Ron and granddaughter Jessica; is survived by his loving wife, Alma Olson; daughter, Valerie Olson Delgado, son in law, Horacio Delgado; grandchildren Valerie Olson Stordahl, Denise Olson Cameron, Cameron Gene Olson; and great grandchildren Nicholas Cameron, Ashley Cameron, Taylor Stordahl, Emma Stordahl, Aaron Stordahl, and Jackson Olson and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial will be held on February 1, 2014 at 1:00 at Mills and Mills Funeral Home in Tumwater, Washington.
