Elwin was born in Tenino, WA on October 20, 1921, to Samuel and Augusta Homan.
In 1947, Elwin married the love of his life LeArdis Welsh, and they raised 4 children.
Elwin is survived by his wife of 70 years, LeArdis; daughter Janet (Howard) Armfield; daughter-in-law Lori Homan-White; son Steven (Dalene) Homan; daughter Joyce (Chenda) Chea; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Elwin was preceded in death by his son Duane Homan.
Elwin loved the Lord and was very active in his church. He was blessed to have the majority of his family living close by. He enjoyed people; liked to make them feel welcome both in the church and in his home; the coffee pot was always on. He helped resettle many SE Asian refugee families during the Killing Fields era.
Elwin was a handyman, able to fix or build almost anything.
The grandkids favorite memory of Grandpa was his love for: playing cribbage; potato chips and Pepsi.
Elwin started his working career delivering Western Union telegrams on a bicycle. During World War II, he transported German prisoners of war. In 1977, Elwin retired after working 30 years for the State of WA.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 27, 1:00 pm at Hidden Creek Community Church.
