She was born in Banks, Oregon on November 17, 1918 to Emmet and Hilda Shipley. She graduated from Banks High School in 1937 and in September 1937 she married Henry Pettit (he passed away in 1958 in an industrial accident in Vail, Washington.)
They had two daughters; Sharon Whalen (Tom) of Tenino, Washington, Diana Berman (Mike) of Olympia, Washington. Diana passed away in 1997. Five grandchildren; Steve Whalen(Pam), Brian Whalen(Desi), John Whalen (Lynette), Jason Berman (Susan), Kate Berman Mogell (Stuart) and 6 great-grandchildren, one brother Ellis (Ruby) Shipley and one sister Virginia Sweere (Clarence) all of Forest Grove, Oregon. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and daughter Diana.
Evelyn was a member of the Olympia Chapter#36 Order of Eastern Star.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital.
Service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Mills & Mills Funeral Home.
