Age 79
Frank Whitney passed away unexpectedly at his home in Graham, Washington, on Monday, April 23rd, 2018. Frank was born in Tacoma, Washington, the son of Frances and Loren Whitney. He graduated from Lincoln High School. He was a member of the Toppers Car Club.
He wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and be an appliance repairman at Sears Roebuck Co., He entered into an apprenticeship there in 1959 and followed his dream. After his apprenticeship Frank became a journeyman and lived out his entire career in this position at Sears until his retirement.
Frank enjoyed many activities outside his work. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons and grandsons. He enjoyed visiting with his family and having lunches, coffee and outings with his many friends.
Frank spent the last years of his life enjoying the companionship of Fran Doesken. They enjoyed many happy times together, attended Mass at St Holy Disciple Catholic Church in Puyallup, Washington, as well as participating in other church activities. They bowled together in league on a weekly basis and enjoyed each other’s company living out his final days.
Frank is survived by three sons, Frank Whitney, of Spokane, Washington, Timothy Whitney of Henderson, Nevada, and Deacon Donald Whitney of Spokane, Washington. He also has six grandchildren and four great grandchildren from his three sons.
Frank is also survived by three stepchildren from his marriage of 35 years to Nola Whitney. Nola’s children are Kittie, Suzie and Terry and combined they have 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Nola preceded him in death 5 years ago.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, May 4th at 11am at Mills & Mills Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Tumwater, Washington.
Frank will be greatly missed by his beloved family, friends and his companion Fran.
