I just learned of Gary's passing and I was sure saddened by the loss of this great guy. Gary and I shared a couple of things. We are Harborites and grads of AHS. I worked with Gary for many years and I can honestly say that he was one of the finest men I have ever known, humble, kind, honest, and a joy to be around because of his wonderful sense of humor. The world is not as kind without him and I too will miss him.

Gary was certainly a gentleman and condolences to his whole family. I remember his hobby of coin and currency collection and we shares some good conversations about that. After he retired would still see him keeping up with his running and would give him a wave.

What a great guy. I will really really miss Gary, and I keep instinctively checking my email for Gary's political commentary, and his responses to my rants. Gary is one of the few people I have ever known, who always treated people with kindness. I appreciated his love of family, and his love of animals. He was once embarrassed, I think, to have my filthy car in his driveway, so he washed it, and thus it got its annual bath. He was always so humble about his own knowledge and abilities....

Dorothy, I am so sorry that you lost your wonderful husband of 52 years! My deepest condolences to you and your son. I think of you so often and our incredible childhood, growing up together in Arcata. It warms my heart to know you had such a long, and happy marriage, it's so well-deserved.
Love, Janie

Dorothy and extended family, so sorry we are out of town and cannot attend Gary's celebration of life..but please know we hold you in our thoughts and prayers. Chance meeting up with you, but at that time did not comprehend the pain you were going through. We will miss seeing Gary jogging up the streets of Tumwater. He told me one time he does that so he can eat his bag of cheetos..love you all.

Dorothy/Sean, So sorry for your loss. I will miss my "coach", work mentor, and friend. He was a good man and a very devoted family man. Sandee loved working for him because he too was not a morning person. We will both miss him very much. We hold you in our thoughts and prayers

Dorothy,

I was heart broken to hear about Gary's passing today. I cannot express in words how sorry I am that he's gone. Even though the time in which I got to know him was brief, I learned enough to know he was a good man. Should you need anything please dont hesitate to ask.

I will be raising a glass in his honor tonight

I am very sorry for your loss. Gary, Gary, Bill, Rich and John all taught this young adjudicator about work ethic and balancing life. I do recall Bill and Gary letting me know that I wouldn't be a 'true' WA runner until I got myself some Gortex, and I did. Now, running in the rain is one of my favorites! I owe my first marathon in Portland to them. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
