Georgia, a long-time resident of Olympia, Washington, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, after several health challenges. Born in Olympia in 1935, she grew up here and met her future husband, John E. Glass, at the Evergreen Ballroom in 1954. John was in the military and was overseas when he proposed to Georgia by mail. They had corresponded for about a year before John was able to come home and marry Georgia. Theirs was a love story. John wrote to Georgia almost every day when they were separated by his military duties. She saved those letters—close to 500--all her life and shared them with her daughters. John and Georgia married in September 1955, and moved to Ft. Riley, Kansas where their oldest daughter Barbara was born. Of course, being in the military, they moved again, this time to Baumholder, Germany in 1959 where their second daughter Mona was born. Georgia loved to travel and was lucky to be stationed in Germany twice with her husband. They also spent two different tours at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma which was not her favorite place to live! They moved back to Olympia in 1970 and purchased their forever home. John passed away in 1986, and she never remarried. Georgia kept busy with her faithful dogs, working in her garden, and feeding and watching her hummingbirds. She also loved photography, quilting, crocheting, embroidery, and knitting. She traveled throughout the western US visiting many national parks and places of interest where she enjoyed photographing the beautiful views. She was a beloved and caring mother and is survived by her daughters Barbara Glass and Mona Moberg (Dean Moberg).
