Gerald Brock Kingston

April 24, 1942September 9, 2020

Gerald “Jerry” Kingston, passed away after a short illness on September 9. He was proud of his Canadian roots and shared stories of his early years there. Jerry loved to travel and fondly recalled his experiences in Europe. He was an avid hockey fan and enthusiastically followed games each season. Whenever possible, Jerry played at Keno and often won due to his talent with numbers. He had varied interests and enjoyed serving others throughout his careers as a gas station owner and state worker to name a few. He was kind and generous toward others and passionate about making a difference by contributing to causes he felt drawn to. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Edna, and his brother Wayne. He is survived by Wayne’s children and grandchildren as well as many friends who take comfort in their fond memories. Jerry’s gentle presence, humble nature, slow smile, and twinkling eyes will hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him. A memorial gathering to honor his life will be held later in the fall. Jerry’s loved ones gratefully extend thanks to Kaiser Olympia and St. Peter Hospital for their supportive and companionate care. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Jerry’s memory to: Olympia Union Gospel Mission P.O. BOX 7668, Olympia WA 98507 or the Salvation Army https://olympia.salvationarmy.org/

I sat next to Jerry in history class at Olympia High school. We learned more about Canada then America.

Blessings to the family.

Jerry and I worked on the Olympus, the Olympia High School weekly newspaper. He was the sports editor and upset many (including me) by putting many, many hockey stories in the paper. Everyone definitely knew of his passion for hockey! We did not keep in touch but it sounds like we should have done so. Very sincere condolences to his family and friends.
